The aim of this presentation is to provide a collection of interesting case studies in oral and maxillofacial pathology covering a variety of conditions encountered in general and specialty dental practices. Emphasis will be placed on lesions and conditions commonly seen in dental practice, especially those difficult to diagnose and/or manage, newly diagnosed conditions, and a plethora of entities, both premalignant and malignant. Special emphasis will be placed on soft tissue and bone pathology, including lesions that are commonly missed or even misdiagnosed as well as confounding lesions that may throw the alert clinician into confusion and disarray. More challenging entities such as medication related osteo-chemonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) and fibro-osseous lesions shall be briefly examined. Commonly misdiagnosed conditions including pediatric oral pathology, oral manifestations of systemic disorders, and diagnostic challenges facing dentists and dental hygienists in general will also be presented. Discussion and explanation with an easy to understand, case-based format shall be utilized.
