Every dental implant and biomaterial we utilize in our patient’s treatment present challenges to human biology. Every step we make to reach harmony with human biology, it follows, should improve the results and long-term predictability of our implants and grafts. Current research supports the proposition that the utilization of autologous biomaterials, as well as biomimetic implantable devices, has the potential to improve our overall results. Therefore, the synergy of autologous material, growth factors, and a biomimetic implant surface should improve the process of osseointegration, especially with the precise combination of bio activators and bio-materials. The possibility to use L-PRF as a biological scaffold by itself or associate with a biomimetic implant surface or autologous dentin graft as open the opportunity to regenerate soft and hard tissue in such a way that was not possible before. At the same time, it is changing the paradigm of osseointegration and tissue regeneration. This session will address the benefits of autologous growth factors in regenerative medicine, the fact that L-PRF can be considered an "autologous human living tissue graft," and will teach participants that L-PRF is a straightforward treatment without any risk for the patient that could be tried in all cases of surgical treatments in dentistry.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the science-based evidence for the different applications of L-PRF
Understand the different protocols in order to obtain the best clinical results
Prepare and utilize L-PRF according to specific guidelines to obtain predictable results in daily practice.
