With the availability of low cost, reliable, and easy-to-use 3D printers it is now possible to fabricate surgical guides for every type of case in house. This workshop will cover the steps necessary to design, print, and use surgical guides for dental implant placement. Participants will learn which data sets are necessary and how to properly acquire the information to produce accurate surgical guides to avoid complications. Various 3D printers will be available. The pros and cons of each type will be discussed. Software to plan and design guides will be provided so that each participant can plan a case and then prepare the guide for printing.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the principles of 3D printing of dental appliances and what datasets are required for planning each type of case.
Learn which current 3D printers are practical for in office use and how to use the printer
Discover how to accurately plan a surgical guide that can be printed in office and how to use the printed surgical guide to maximize efficiency
